What are the top 10 methods to generate traffic to my website?

How to Increase Traffic to Your Website

They say the Internet has made the world smaller as anyone with a computer can put anything online. It may be a smaller world, but online, it is highly competitive to drive visitors (potential customers) to your site, no matter what you are selling!

I pulled up a search engine and put in what are the top 10 ways to drive traffic to my website?
The results were many and varied on how to generate hits to your site. And most of the results were dated 2007 or 2008! What worked then, does it still work now? So, I refined my search specifying the year "best ways to generate traffic in 2014."

1. Starting a blog is a good place to start to generate traffic. It is very easy to do. I use Google's Blogger.  What do you blog about? Well, what are you expert at? What is your passion? Do you have a service you want to advertise? Do you have a product you want to sell? What if you have none of the above? You can always market somebody else's products and earn a commission off of each sale.

Everybody has one thing, product or service that they are an expert at. This is what you call your niche. Use your search box and key in your niche, whatever it may be, and see what your search pulls up! You will find all the other sites and blogs that also are in your niche. It never hurts to give credit by linking back to a site where you have researched your niche for content for your blog. Give credit where it is due!

A blog is only about 200 words at the least. Use as many keyword phrases as you can so the Search Engines can find you. Once you are done with your blog, you want to send it to as many people as you can via social media. One way to do this is to just click the share options at the bottom of your blog or even better, put a subscribe link up on the social network and give your readers an option to subscribe to your blog, and now you are building a list.


Whatever the content on your site or blog is, you can't just use one keyword phrase after another in order to get that traffic! You may not get published if you do that and have to rewrite. Especially with articles, or Press Releases. Learned through the school of hard knocks! Been there, tried that! 
There are two kinds of traffic, free and paid. What do you have more of, money or time? Set a budget for yourself each month and a goal of how many people do you want to meet a day, or how much do you want to earn off of your investment? If you have time, then you can meet people at Facebook, Twitter, Linked In, Google+ just to name a few. Give good quality content, and I have found that most people do not like to be pressured with an offer a day, or every conversation is about selling them something. Get to know them and find out what they are into, why are they online, and what do you have in common. It is a numbers game, so the more people you "talk" to via your blog or your social networking or mailing your list, you may sell 5 out of 100. Any relationship that you build is worth having, so don't be discouraged.

Be consistent. This is really important! On again, off again, nets you ZERO! Also learned in the school of hard knocks!
 

Here is a great place to get FREE traffic. https://www.answers.yahoo.com. You can answer questions there on any topic that you are the expert at. It is really unbelievable how many people answer a question without leaving the link to their site or blog, or even their Facebook page. Leave your site info, or again, leave a link to your subscribe page.


Obviously, you will need a way to keep in touch with your contacts when you come across something that is of value to them. Additional Income From Home

Aloha to all my Readers!

It is my dream and my reality to be able to generate income from home by using my  computer as a tool. When I first starting online marketing about 10 years ago I created this blog. If I created this blog today, I would not name it Alohalady's blog. Do you know why? If you are searching for information on how to work from home, nobody is going to put Alohalady Blog into the search box from Google, Bing, Yahoo or even Publishers Clearing house! You want to drive traffic (visitors) to your site you need to use keywords, and it is a huge niche! Niche being what you are marketing or promoting online! So if I key in work from home, or legitimate work from home opportunities, you will not find Alohalady blog. So what I do when I blog is I try to use keywords. Keywords are what the search engines are looking for and indexing when put those words you are using into the search engine block.



Earning from home is a great commute! You will make many new connections and friends on sites such as FaceBook, Google+, Twitter and lLinkedIn, just to name a few. I made many ventures when I first started out online and was a newbie. Newbie meaning somebody who is new to working online. Basically, if you can cut and paste, you can work from home. A decade ago we all used Safelists, Traffic Exchanges and e-mail marketing. All can still be used, and can be effective if you do it properly. My first venture became known as the "Club Built on Spam " as one of the ways we got to email people was by going to the online classifieds and "harvesting e-mails" and then e-mailing them without their permission, to promote and get them to join us. I had a huge downline, but it didn't matter because hardly any of them actually upgraded from a free account to a paid account. I made about $50-$75 per month. I found out later that is actually good, as many people never make a dime. I even received a 1099 from a later venture into MLM for $900 for the whole year! I e-mailed them when I cancelled my membership that $900 was nothing for the amount of time I had to spend working on my computer, before work, (I had a full time job then) after work, and all day Saturday and Sunday. I got a reply that I should be grateful to make anything at all online! The sad fact was that this program made promises that they couldn't deliver on.


So, if you don't want to spend every spare minute you have at your computer, you learn to work smarter, not harder! Use the tools available to automate your time online. How much do you have to spend to advertise? Do you have an Autoresponder? How do you build a list of people it is okay to email? If somebody e-mails me and I don't know who they are, I will keep their email address and put it into my contacts, so because I was emailed by that person, I can now e-mail them! Most of the spam get I have to un-subscribe if I am not interested, as it is coming from that person's autoresponder, not from their actual contact email.


I have an "all tools in one place" program which is still rolling out yet more tools for us to use and they are trying to activate all tools by the end of October 2013. That's only two weeks! Right now I have a Facebook marketing tool, my own welcome letter and my own webcast video that I can use to market, whatever I am promoting at the time! I am always looking tor new team leaders to bring their teams on board with me, and in general for anybody who wants to promote their product or service online.
